What we know about Rochester
- Rochester Cathedral was founded in 604 and is the second oldest in England, which makes the city one of the older continuously inhabited spots in the county. The point, for a bakery: this is a town with a long habit of buying from small local traders, and that habit never really went away.
- The Norman castle keep beside it is among the tallest surviving in England. Between the two, Rochester pulls a steady stream of visitors along the High Street at weekends, which is exactly when our bake comes out of the oven.
